Kiyochika often imitated Western painting styles ,however, in this series, he paid homage to Hiroshige ,with the style of late ukyo-e , using the vertical oban tate format in a manner like Hiroshige’s Famous Views of the 60-Odd Provinces. The Bay of Tago is a small harbor close to Tokaido , and provides an excellent view of Mt. Fuji, which is bathed in the reddish glow of sunrise, while reflected in the placid waters of the bay.
