After the success of the Hoeido Tokaido, Hiroshige produced many more series chronicling the great sea road from Edo to Kyoto. Many of these were in a small “chuban” format. This is from the so-called Kitchizo Tokaido, which was published in 1850-51. This is an especially well-printed series, and this is a prime example. Note the precision and richness of the printing.
