Hiroshige's snow scenes have always been popular, and this one is particularly beautiful. The Yushima Tenjin Shrine is one of the oldest and most famous in Edo. This wonderful print depicts a clear day after snow, with a thick layer still on the ground and the water reflecting the blue of the sky. Interestingly, the signature seal is yellow instead of the usual red, which is intended to contrast with the red of the lanterns and walls of the teahouse near the shrine.
